The Arts.

I decided to take the girls to the NC Museum of Art last Wednesday. The weather was horrible all the way up to Raleigh, and the mood was just not made for traveling. Although the weather was not cooperating, we finally arrived and the rain had stopped just in time for us to walk in the Museum. It was fabulous, I must admit I have missed the arts in general. Julia was excited and loved it. She came away with some great ideas for painting, and photography projects that me and her will be working on in the near future. She has a great eye and hope that I can help her broaden her choices and teach her what I know. She is already a great painter for her age I think.

My Christmas Gift. 2012

As for Michelle, she enjoyed it as well but was not that impressed. She is more into the Musical Arts than anything else, and of course she is 12 so can’t blame her for not wanting to walk around and look at naked statues, and paintings of people hasn’t even heard of, yet.

All in all it was a great afternoon, and I will plan for another weekend or holiday getaway real soon. I think we are going to DC soon for a few days. I really have to get me a camera for that trip. Well, got to get back to my womanly duties, ie: cleaning, packing, cleaning, then maybe some down time tonight.

Here are a few photos of the trip. Even though they were taken with my phone, I think they came out pretty good.

Merry Christmas!

Well it’s finally Christmas day and the sun is shining with no chance for snow. I do believe that today does not feel like Christmas. Me and the girls will be heading over to my brothers here in a few to spend a couple hours with them. Then it’s back home to relax, watch movies, eat and possibly watch the sunset this evening. I must say that this year has been a good one, but it went by so fast. Everyday I struggle with lifes ups and downs, and today seems like a mixture of both. I miss being with all of my family this year. I thank the Lord for my dads health and my families closeness in all the hard times. I’m hoping for a fabulous year to come, filled with lots of joy and hopefully love. The girls had  a good Christmas and received a lot of gifts, and money to spend on anything. So I sit here updating my blog possibly the last until the new year. I go back to work on Monday, back to the mad house and some great friends. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Peace and Love for All!!!!

The Consumption of Christmas cont.

I have been looking at this piece for a couple of days and only added a few things here and there. I don’t want to Consume this piece with a lot of clutter so I think I am almost done. Just a few more additions and I will be done. Then it will be time to decide how I will present it.

Thanks for my followers. Hoping for another epiphany in 2012.

The Consumption of Christmas.

I awoke  this morning and had an idea of a very new and inspiring project. It is something that I have never done before but I am inspired by a very close friend of mine. His work is very different and indeed the basis for my new creation. Thank you in advance Patrick. 🙂 I can honestly say that Christmas has been so misconstrued and geared toward buying the right gift or the amount. This piece represents all the chaos and consumption that everyone gets wrapped up in. We all forget the whole purpose of Christmas and I myself get tangled up in all the material side effects of it. Not sure when I will be finished with it, it is a work in progress but I finally am able to feel free, and hoping to add more to this project in the future… Will post my progress.

Staying Home for the Holidays!

Well Thanksgiving is over and it’s time for Christmas. Thanksgiving was spent with my brother and his family. My two nieces are so cute. Alexis was bouncing off the walls and running around playing with the girls. Oliva was so good and she just sat in her swing watching everyone do their thing. It was a nice, non-hectic day. The girls ended up staying the night while I went off to work for the remainder of the night and into the morning. It was a quiet night, which was good for me. The guys on the other hand had a much interesting night than myself. I’m not complaining the less drama the better I say. Christmas is around the corner and I’m going to put up my tree tomorrow. I’m really in the mood for some good cheer, so bring it on. We are staying here for Christmas this year and telling everyone to hit the roads and come to North Carolina for the Holidays. I’m planning on taking two days off from work which would give about a week off because of the way my schedule is set up. Should be a much need time away, and the girls really need me to be here for them. I think we may make a trip to New Bern and maybe Wilmington to see what kind of events are taking place during Christmas. I bet the streets are lit up and beautiful during this time of year. I might even see about taking a carriage ride for the Holidays with them, who knows.

The weather is holding up during the day, but dropping in the evenings. So it’s time to bring out the winter weather clothing. I think I might invest in a fire pit so I can sit outside and enjoy some fresh air and maybe some smores. This year has gone by so fast, especially now that I’m working. I can’t believe that I have been working now for 6 months. I’m so thankful for having this job and meeting all the great people along the way. I hope that I have the opportunity to move forward and achieve my goals. I’m hoping to get out on the road here in the next 6 months, or even go to BLET to get certified as a Deputy. It will be a challenge, but I thrive on challenges, especially when someone tells me I can’t do it. Anyway, I have to go back to work on Monday, so this weekend is about rest and relaxation.

Last night it was the Swansboro Flotilla, tonight will be Ericas BrewHaus for some good clean fun. Tomorrow will be church, football, and decorating the Christmas tree. So the weekend is planned and next week it’s work and more work. I guess I better get going, taking a quick nap then off to a birthday party.

Until next time 🙂

Saturday Nov 29th, 2008

It’s Saturday morning and another week has gone by. I have been able to trade my Durango, sell my brothers car, signed my separation paper work and now I have a possible buyer for my bike. Also I have a job offer in California, only a 30 day contract so I have to call them on Monday to see what all the details are. I also had a photo shoot this past week and made a good amount of money to cover Christmas for the girls. Now I can do it on my own and I don’t have to rely on anybody. All in all I say I had a pretty productive week being that it was also Thanksgiving. On Wednesday I took the girls up to the Natural Science and Marbles Kids Museums.

100_2213 I enjoyed the Natural Science museum, although there wasn’t nothing new but fun all the same. They had a butterfly room with tons of butterflies and a sloth, which was hiding so we couldn’t see it. The museum also had the Dead Sea Scrolls on exhibit, I would have liked to  have seen them but the girls weren’t that interested and it was to expensive to just walk through in five minutes. So we walked around and looked at some weird and nasty bugs and big huge dinosaurs. We spent about two hours there and headed over to the Marble Museum and hung out there for almost five hours.

It was nice to hang out with the kids away from the normality that we all fall into in our lives. Life is stressful enough, to try to get away from it all is almost impossible. It being Thanksgiving weekend I was very thankful for my kids and my family. All my family and friends were spread out this year, West coast, East coast, North, South, ect……… so it was hard to be just us and even then it still didn’t feel right.

The Marbles Museum was the kids favorite, everything was hands on and interactive. They had so much fun, I had fun just watching them having fun.

They love chess, Cody a friend of mine taught them how to play and they have loved it ever since. They tried to play a game but other kids were interested in the size of the game pieces that they wanted to play to. There were so many things for them to do I just let them loose and followed behind.

100_2306 100_2250Julia dressed up as a doctor, fireman, chef, actress, ect. Michelle did the same and was all over the place but she was very aware of where I was at all times which made me feel good.

We spent the better part of the day at the museum, got lost in Raleigh (only I can do that). Made it out and back home by 6 o’clock. I was so tired that I crashed as soon as I hit the couch.

They had fun which is all that matters to me, they are my life and that will never change. We are a packaged deal.

We went over to my brothers girlfriends house to shoot some pictures and have some food. It was good to see my brother, even though we live only 30 minutes away from each other, work, kids and other life’s endeavours keeps us pretty busy. We went to the Christmas Flotilla last night in town, Reanna and her family met us out there. We had some dinner and watched the boats roll in all decorated with lights. Tomorrow we will go to church and try to finish off the weekend on a good note before the beginning of December. The girls dad is trying to get them out to Indiana two days earlier than what was planned but that is ok with me even though I will be alone for Christmas this year. They need to spend as much time as they can with their dad and I need to spend some me time to figure out how to function being alone for the holidays.

I cant’ believe that this year is almost over, I have no idea where it has gone. I’m looking forward to some kind of change in my life. I’m hoping for the good and obviously not the bad. Patrick comes back from NY this weekend, after spending some quality time with his family. Can’t wait to catch up with him to see how he is doing. Well got to get moving, it is a dreary day today so have to do something. Probably clean as usual.

Until next time. Take Care and Always Remember to Smile 🙂
