Keeping my Sanity..

I made it back from Arkansas on Monday and adjusting to a very, very quite house. The girls are with their dad until August 9th and I must admit it is nice to be able to listen to myself think for a change. I have been able to catch up on some much-needed rest and as far as the job hunting goes, it’s not looking so good. I’m still contemplating the whole police force thing and Jacksonville is hiring for Police Officer I position. My brother in-law said he would guide me through the whole process but like I said I’m still undecided.  My trip back home was great. Although it was very heart breaking to pull up in the driveway and see nothing but rubble from the fire. I tried to visualize where everything once was and it was so hard to walk around among the burnt debris.

I was able to spend some much-needed time with my family and I took a trip back in time when me and my sister visited our old elementary school in Winslow which was closed in 2006. We walked around the school grounds and I knew exactly where my 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms used to be. All of the classrooms were boarded up and the doors were locked from both the inside and out. We tried to find any way in to just look around and take some photos but we had no luck. The high school gym still had their banners hanging up from previous years of sport winnings, it was actually a sad sight to see. I remember being huddled up in the gym while a tornado was making its way into town. My parents tried to come and get but they were not releasing anybody from the gym.

I will be posting pictures of my summer trip soon. Right now I’m just updating since  it has been awhile. Sucks not having photo editing software on this computer. My computer is taking a break since my charger broke for it. Those things are not cheap…. Hopefully I will be able to post some by tomorrow.  Keep an eye out!!!!!!

Headed Home…

I leave in about an hour to drop my girls off at the airport so they can spend the summer with their dad in Michigan. They are so excited and I’m excited for them as well. Yesterday was Michelle’s 10th birthday and we actually celebrated it through out the week.

It was nice to be able to have a peaceful last week with them. It is very hard to come by considering they are kids.. lol… I myself am taking off to Arkansas for some time to spend with my family. This will be the first time I make it back since my parents house burnt down. This should be a very emotional trip for me as well as my brother Charlie. He and Hannah are driving so I am tagging along for the ride. I will be taking care of my niece who I will be sharing the back seat with.  We plan on driving straight through, roughly about 18 hours. Ugggghhh… I plan on driving at some point of the trip if they need me too. Well I better get moving, still have to load the car..

Hopefully I will be able to update soon with some new pics from my hometown.. 🙂

Home..

Family Barbeque..

Finally well rested from my trip to Denver. Me and the girls made it back Monday night from a five-day fun-filled weekend in Denver. I would have liked to have spent a greater amount of time with my family but school and other priorities kept me back. It was great to see everyone and to sit and talk to about my late grandfather. We had some great stories to tell and a lot to catch up on. We were able to make it to Central City

for a stroll around the old town, which was filled with casinos. On Saturday we went to the zoo and Sunday we had big barbeque with the family. All in all it was a great trip even if it was short.

When we arrived in Denver the weather was scary. Denver was being bombarded with hail, lightning, and some tornadoes.

Central City was cool, the last time I was here was when I was in high school. We all went up to have the old back in the day pictures done. The studio is now gone, replaced by a vacant building ready to be leased by someone in search of millions. I can remember this town having gold mines open for tourists to take a look at how gold was mined. You could also pan for gold for a couple of dollars, but all this was gone being replaced by casinos and bars.

Old Stables

The zoo was great as well, tiring but great. Some of the animals were in hiding because it was so hot outside but everyone had a good time.
